Love Hoddesdon's fabulous volunteer force sprung a big surprise on the BID's Events & Promotions Chair Stephen Harris on Saturday evening...
Stephen, who is the driving force behind the BID's hugely popular large public events, thought he was turning up at Rye Park Conservative Club to give a talk about his work at Love Hoddesdon.
And, on the turn of 9pm, he duly began to do that. But before he could finish, he was surprised to be interrupted with his very own "This Is Your Life" moment!
The volunteers had got together to present Stephen with his own big red book filled with pictures and memories of his work for Love Hoddesdon, together with a certificate to mark his commitment and an award, in the shape of Stephen's famous "binding handshake" with which he (jokingly!) greets all new volunteers.
It was a memorable moment, with members of Stephen's family and Love Hoddesdon's mascot, Master Henry Hoddas, also in attendance, along with the Mayor of Broxbourne Cllr Patsy Spiers and many of the BID's volunteers.
Congratulations Stephen, and thank you to all the volunteers who helped organise the surprise and contributed to it.
