A great Spring day out in Hoddesdon

Thursday 23rd April 9am

Saturday's Spring Fayre & Heritage day in Hoddesdon attracted 5,000 people into our town centre across the day, a 10 per cent increase on last year.

The event, organised by Love Hoddesdon BID with our partners at Broxbourne Council, included live entertainment, stalls and fun fair rides, with several attractions organised and run specifically by Love Hoddesdon.

These included two vintage buses which ran 17 bus tours during the day with more than 800 passengers; vintage hand-turned organs which added to the atmosphere; 12 vintage commercial vehicles, and two local history tours run by Love Hoddesdon volunteer Kevin Tunstall dressed as King Henry III, the Monarch who granted Hoddesdon's charter back in 1253. Master Henry Hoddas, the popular Love Hoddesdon mascot, also attended, carrying out Meet & Greets with visiting families.

Love Hoddesdon BID Events & Promotions Chair Stephen Harris thanked the 22 volunteers who helped organise everything from barriers in the early morning to staffing the BID's stall, handing out information, stickers to children and conducting a survey of visitors; their commitment is hugely appreciated by everyone at Love Hoddesdon.

BID Manager Aaron Gransby said: "All our events are aimed at increasing footfall in the town and therefore visibility for our local businesses. The Spring Fayre and Heritage day was a great success, paving the way for our next big event of the year, the Love Hoddesdon Midsummer Festival in the last two weeks of June. "
