Hoddesdon author's new book inspired by his work in a local pub

Now Thomas Forster, a Hoddesdon resident who works in the Wetherspoons pub The Star in the High Street, has written that man’s story in a new book.
The Old Man is the name of Thomas’s book, which is available to buy now on Amazon. It’s a funny, brutally honest but unexpectedly tender collection of short stories told by a lonely widower who grumbles his way through life’s trials and tribulations.
Thomas said: “It’s a gritty book that touches on some dark themes, including alcoholism, grief and memory loss, but there is plenty of comedy throughout to lighten the load. The main character is the sort of grumpy pub regular most hospitality workers will recognise. He drinks far too much, usually sits alone in the corner and can easily go unnoticed. I wanted to give that man a voice and, hopefully, make readers care about him despite all his flaws.”
